How receipt scanning works · Moza

Upload or snap a receipt and Moza extracts the details for you to review before saving.

Receipt scanning turns a receipt image or PDF into one or more transactions. Moza reads the merchant, date, totals and line items, then shows you a review screen before anything is saved.

How it works

The flow is Extract → Review → Confirm:

  1. Extract. Upload or snap a receipt. Moza reads the merchant, date, total and line items.
  2. Review. Check what Moza found and correct anything on the review screen.
  3. Confirm. Moza creates the transaction(s) and attaches the receipt image.

The receipt image is stored once and linked to every transaction the receipt creates, so a split receipt never duplicates the file. Each scan costs 3 AI Credits, charged when the scan runs (not when you save).

Limitations

Common Questions

Will a receipt create a transaction automatically?

No — you always review and confirm first. Moza never writes to your ledger without your confirmation.

What file types can I scan?

Common image formats and PDF.

Does scanning use my AI Credits?

Yes. Each scan costs 3 AI Credits, charged when the scan runs. A system/connection failure is automatically refunded; an unreadable or non-receipt image still uses a credit because the scan ran.
