Import lets you move to Moza in minutes. Upload a CSV, Excel or JSON export from another finance app — YNAB, Monarch, Copilot, Lunch Money, Simplifi, Wallet, or any file — and Moza brings in your accounts and transaction history (and optionally your categories, goals and budgets).
Find it under More → Import data.
How it works
It's a simple 4-step wizard:
- Upload your file (CSV, Excel or JSON).
- Map fields — Moza auto-detects how your columns map to Moza fields and shows a confidence level for each. Everything is editable.
- Preview — review a migration readiness score that tells you whether you're ready or should check a few things first.
- Done — import, then review your Import history.
Along the way, Moza:
- detects and pairs transfers into Moza transfers,
- flags and skips duplicates by default,
- preserves envelope balances — if you are migrating YNAB envelope budgets, enable Allocation Planning in Moza to fully support rollover and available balances, and
- tags every imported row to its batch so a single Undo cleanly rolls back the whole import.
Limitations
- Import respects your plan's limits on accounts, goals and budgets — if a file exceeds them you can upgrade or import partially.
- Full envelope support. If you use Allocation Planning, envelope assigned and available balances are fully modeled (historical envelope running balances from other apps are imported where supported).
- The AI-assisted column mapping only ever sees column headers — never your amounts or records — and is free.
Common Questions
Which apps can I import from?
Moza recognizes exports from YNAB, Monarch, Copilot, Lunch Money, Simplifi and Wallet, and can map a generic CSV/Excel/JSON from any source.
Can I import my envelope balances from YNAB?
Yes. When you configure your workspace to use Allocation Planning, Moza imports your categories, monthly assigned cash, and carried-over Available balances.
What if I import the wrong file?
Use Undo on the import. Because every row is tagged to its batch, Moza removes exactly what it added (including accounts/categories it created that ended up empty).
Will importing create duplicates?
No — re-importing the same file surfaces duplicates and skips them rather than doubling your history.
