Most receipts scan cleanly, but blurry photos, unusual layouts, or very long receipts can trip detection. Here's how to get a good result.
How it works
For a clean scan:
- Use a flat, well-lit photo with the whole receipt in frame.
- Avoid glare and shadows.
- If a field is wrong or missing, correct it on the review screen before confirming.
About credits when a scan goes wrong:
- A system or connection failure (timeout, outage) is automatically refunded.
- An unreadable or non-receipt image still uses a credit, because the scan actually ran.
Limitations
- Handwritten or heavily damaged receipts may not extract reliably.
- If your AI Credits are exhausted, scanning pauses until the next period or an upgrade.
Common Questions
My receipt wasn't detected — what now?
Re-upload a clearer, flat, well-lit photo with the full receipt in frame. You can also enter the transaction manually. Note: an unreadable image still uses a credit.
Did a failed scan use my credits?
It depends. A system or provider failure (timeout, outage, connection problem) is automatically refunded. An image we could read but that wasn't a usable receipt still uses a credit, because the scan ran.
