A few practical details that make bank statement imports go smoothly — which files work, how passwords and credit cards are handled, and what an import costs.
How it works
Supported files
PDF, CSV and XLSX. For PDFs, Moza reads the statement tables directly; if a PDF's layout is unusual, it uses AI to structure it.
Password-protected PDFs
If your statement PDF is encrypted, the import pauses and asks for the password. Enter it and Moza unlocks the file and continues — the file is only used to read your transactions.
Credit cards & foreign currency
A credit-card statement is imported as a liability account, so your balance and debt are tracked correctly. The statement's own currency is used (for example an IDR card statement stays in IDR even in a USD workspace).
Credits
An import session costs 15 AI Credits, charged once no matter how many transactions are in the file. If processing fails, the credits are automatically refunded — a failed statement is free.
Your statement file isn't kept
The uploaded statement is used only to extract transactions. Once processing finishes, the original file is removed. If processing can't be completed, the upload is kept temporarily so you can retry and is automatically deleted within 30 days. Only the transactions you confirm are saved to your ledger.
Limitations
- Very unusual or image-only statements may need a few manual corrections on the review screen.
- AI Credits are shared across Moza's AI features; if they're exhausted, imports pause until your next period or an upgrade.
Common Questions
My statement PDF has a password — can I still import it?
Yes. The import will pause and ask for the password; enter it and Moza unlocks the file and continues.
Can I import a credit-card statement?
Yes. It's imported as a liability account so your debt is tracked correctly, and it keeps the statement's own currency.
Did a failed import use my credits?
