Importing a bank statement · Moza

Upload a PDF, CSV or XLSX statement and turn it into reviewed, categorized transactions.

Bank Statement Import turns a statement file into ready-to-use transactions. You upload a statement — PDF, CSV or XLSX, including password-protected PDFs — and Moza reads the rows, cleans up merchant names, suggests a category for each one, finds duplicates, works out which account it belongs to, and spots subscriptions. You then review everything and confirm.

It lives on the Scans page, alongside receipt scanning, and is the fastest way to bring in a lot of history at once.

Nothing is saved to your ledger until you confirm.

How it works

  1. Open Scans and choose Upload Bank Statement.
  2. Pick your file — a PDF, CSV or XLSX export from your bank. If the PDF is password-protected, Moza will ask for the password.
  3. Let it process. The upload returns straight away and Moza works in the background — extracting rows, normalizing merchants (for example NTFLX.COM becomes Netflix), categorizing each transaction, flagging duplicates, detecting the account, and spotting subscriptions. You'll get a notification when it's ready.
  4. Confirm the destination account. Moza matches an existing account or offers to create one. A credit-card statement becomes a liability account so your debt is tracked correctly.
  5. Review the transactions — approve, recategorize, or reject rows (see Reviewing imported statement transactions).
  6. Confirm the import. Moza creates the transactions, skips duplicates, and offers to set up any subscriptions it found.

Limitations

Common Questions

What file types can I import?

PDF, CSV and XLSX — including password-protected PDFs. If your bank can export any of these, Moza can read it.

Will it create transactions automatically?

No. Everything lands on a review screen first. Transactions are only created when you confirm the import.

How much does an import cost?

15 AI Credits per import session, charged once regardless of how many transactions the statement contains. If processing fails, the credits are refunded.

Is my statement file stored?

Your statement is used only to extract transactions. After processing, the original file is removed. If processing can't be completed, the upload is kept temporarily so you can retry and is automatically deleted within 30 days. Only the transactions you confirm are saved.
