Accounts are the containers that hold money in Moza — checking, savings, cash, credit cards, and other asset or liability lines. Every transaction belongs to exactly one account.
Your accounts roll up into the dashboard's Net Worth, which is your assets minus your liabilities. Credit cards and loans are liabilities, so their balances reduce your net worth.
How it works
Each account has a name, a type (asset or liability), a currency, and a running balance.
- Balances are automatic. They're derived from the transactions in the account, so they update the moment you add, edit or delete activity.
- Pick an account for every entry. You choose the account whenever you add a transaction, record a transfer, or save a scanned receipt.
- Move money with transfers. A transfer moves money between two of your accounts and doesn't count as income or expense.
Limitations
- An account holds a single currency (your workspace's reporting currency). Foreign-currency transactions are converted for reporting — see Spending in a different currency.
- If an account already has transactions, deleting is blocked — archive it instead. Archived accounts keep their history but drop out of the account pickers.
Common Questions
How is an account balance calculated?
It's the sum of the transactions in that account. Add, edit or delete activity and the balance updates automatically.
How do I move money between accounts?
Use a transfer. It moves money from one account to another and doesn't count as income or expense.
Can I delete an account?
If it has transactions, archive it instead — this preserves your history. Archived accounts no longer appear when adding new activity.
